"I thought about getting one of these for awhile and I finally did for my 1 car garage shop. The unit is quieter than most tools in the shop and I use hearing protection anyway so I don't really hear it. I found the remote to work fine, doesn't seem unidirectional in my set up at all. The one I noticed is that the unit will come on by itself sometimes. My theory is the timer is rudimentary so if I set it for 2 hours and manually turn it off before the 2 hours is up, the timer kicks the switch after 2 hours even if it is turned off so the timer turns it on. I could have a defective unit but that's my theory. It's not a problem and I and my love the filter. I think it's a fine worthwhile purchase."

"Planning on buying this within the next 30 days. But I'm not real sure how amazon comes up with their "sale price" of $299 when the retail is $229 at local stores and in catalogs. Edited: I see the price is back down now. Possibly a temporarily misprint."

"I gave it 3 stars because I'm not sure. Got this charcoal filter about a year ago. It has a cardboard frame and looks the same as the electrostatic filter except you can see that it has a black filtration media in it. I think maybe, possibly it's doing what it's supposed to do, but tell you the truth I'm not really sure, I didn't notice much of a difference before or after. Maybe when the time comes I'll buy another one, but at $50 a pop it'll receive strong re-consideration. Anyways, buyer beware."

"just received today am actually using this jet air filtration system in my house in the house wanted to try this for smoking otherwize electrostatic filter is great for dust will see how this works for that but is not as pictured, comes paper framed and looks similar to electrostatic one without the metal support but actual filter is much stiffer"
